PADI Open Water Diver & PADI Scuba Diver

PADI Open Water Diver is an internationally recognised entry level scuba diving qualification. It enables you to hire equipment, get air fills, book dives and dive independently with a buddy anywhere in the world.  PADI Scuba Diver is specially designed for those with time constraints and covers just over half the Open Water course.  PADI Scuba Diver certification entitles you to dive under professional supervision and finish off the full Open Water course at a later date.

As of this year you can complete the theory for the PADI Open Water course on-line.  You can then come to us for the practical skills training.  Naturally - if you prefer - you can still enrol on the more traditional text-book based course.  If you're not sure which option to take - contact us and we'll do everything we can to help.

PADI Open Water Online - Learning to dive has never been more convenient

Why not try the new PADI Open Water Diver Course Online.  This enables you to learn all the theory for the course at your own convenience - starting right now if you like.  After you've finished the theory, we'll help you master the practical diving skills at our dive centre.  Naturally, if you need any help with the theory we'll be happy to lend our support by telephone, e-mail, or in person if you're close enough to come to the centre during opening hours.

Days 1 & 2 : Pool & Open Water Dives

The course starts with a brief introductory session at La Manga Dive School, Puerto Tomás Maestre - where we can answer any outstanding questions regarding the theory of diving.  Time is then shared between pool and open water (sea) dives.  We combine five dives in the private pool at Tenis Club Dos Mares, with two sea dives on the La Manga coast.  The pool dives help you master the skills required for safe and competent scuba diving.  The open water dives consolidate these skills and the diving knowledge you've gained on the course.

Day 3 : Open Water Dives

Open Water dives 3 & 4 in the Mediterranean. The course finishes with two more challenging dives and - all being well - your certification as a PADI Open Water Diver.

Referrals

Most PADI Diving courses can be completed in stages and at different centres.  This gives the flexibility to complete classroom and pool training sessions in one location (eg close to home) and finish your course with the open water dives in another (eg on holiday).  The dive centre which starts your training, gives you a referral sheet (a formal record of the training you have completed) to take with you to the next centre you attend.  Referral is an attractive option if you are planning a diving course on holiday and would prefer to complete the classroom and pool work before you go.  If you would like help finding a PADI Dive Centre near you to start your training before you come to Murcia, contact us and we'll try to help.

Medical

If you want to enrol on a certification course (Open Water Diver, Advanced / Adventure Diver etc), local law in Murcia states that you must have a diving medical.  There are two options for this:

1.       In your home country.  Complete and sign the PADI medical statement (we can provide a copy of this on request).  Then get a doctor to check your fitness and complete the physician's section of the statement.

2.       In Spain.  Get a Spanish diving medical certificate, we can give you details of where to go for a while-u-wait medical in the La Manga area and when. The doctors fee is around 30€, the certificate costs 4€ - total cost about 34€..

Insurance

The law in Murcia requires that you carry personal diving insurance which covers you for accidents while scuba diving. We include this in the price of our courses.
